Praying for the harvest-"7 de Mayo"

"Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'" Mt. 9:37-38

First Vacation Bible School in "7 de Mayo" in December 2007.
In the village of "7 de Mayo", the seeds have been planted, the soil has been cultivated and tender sprouts have been carefully nurtured as they have grown into seedlings and then maturing plants. There has been lots of prayer involved over the past several years. The fields appear to be ready for harvest. The harvesters have been prepared. On Saturday they will enter into the fields. Pray for a bountiful harvest.

The ministry in "7 de Mayo" began in December 2007. The Regional Health Department had suggested that this particular community was an area that had many health needs. Over the past 4 & 1/2 years, members of the Shalom Church have continued to work primarily with the children every Saturday afternoon. Many times there have been over 80 children crowded under trees and in school rooms ready to hear the Bible stories that our church members shared.

Interestingly, a group of mothers faithfully attended the children's time each week paying close attention to the stories and coloring the pages along with the kids. A community health education program was started for taking care of the women's particular needs. Medical teams from The Ohio State University have sent medical brigades every year.

Later, as some of the children started growing up, we realized that there was also a need to work with the young people.  The Shalom Church routinely ministers to over 100 people every Saturday afternoon at "7 de Mayo", including the children, tweens, and women.

We believe that it is time for the harvest. On Saturday, the Shalom Church will enter the "7 de Mayo" field anticipating a bountiful harvest. They will visit each house and evangelistic services will be held in the evening.

Each of the discipleship groups at the church has been praying throughout the week for this event. Join us in praying that many people will come to the Lord.
